Distinguishing characteristics, birthmarks, tattoos : Caucasian male. Brown hair, brown eyes. Wilberding's nickname is Ben. Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Wilberding was last seen at his parents' home on County Road CC in rural Tomahawk, Wisconsin on the morning of May 24, 1996. He left in a maroon car with two other occupants. He has never been heard from again. After his disappearance, authorities found his driver's license and Social Security card in the possession of another person. This individual was investigated, but there was no evidence linking him to a crime. Wilberding never collected his last paycheck from the Hurd Millwork Company in Merrill, Wisconsin, where he was employed as a seasonal worker. He also left his vehicle behind. His Social Security number has not been used since 1996 and his driver's license has not been renewed. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are unclear.
