Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Howard was last seen on Route 1 in Milford Center, Ohio on May 23, 1976. Two days later, his red and white 1970s model Ford F-150 pickup truck was found abandoned near a wooded area at the intersection of Collins Road and Maple Ridge Road. The keys and some of Howard's personal belongings were inside the truck, but there was no sign of him at the scene.
Few details are available in Howard's case. He is considered to be missing under suspicious circumstances.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons.
